As one of the tech companies heavily affected by the high tariffs imposed by the U.S. government on Chinese goods in early April, Apple has been forced to diversify its manufacturing locations, turning to India and Vietnam as two key destinations.

According to the Times of India, Tim Cook stated that most Apple devices sold in the U.S. will be manufactured in Vietnam, except for iPhones. Half of the iPhones will come from India, while the other half will still be produced in China.

“Most iPhones sold in the U.S. in Q2 2025 will be manufactured in India, while nearly all other product lines such as iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, and AirPods will be imported from Vietnam,” Apple’s CEO revealed.

According to Apple’s newly released Supplier List for the fiscal year 2023 (ending September 30, 2023), the company has added many new partners while removing some. Most of these partners are located in Southeast Asia, India, and South Asia.

Vietnam now hosts a total of 35 manufacturing sites and offices of Apple’s supply chain partners. This number has increased from 27 in 2022, making Vietnam the country with the highest number of Apple production sites in Southeast Asia and the fourth highest globally in 2022–2023, behind only China (158 sites), Taiwan (49 sites), and Japan (44 sites).

Since 2016, Vietnam has seen one of the fastest growths in Apple’s manufacturing partnerships, with major factories such as Foxconn, Luxshare, and component suppliers like Samsung, Intel, and LG.

Vietnam currently houses large-scale factories assembling Apple devices such as AirPods, iPads, and Apple Watches. Analysts estimate that by 2025, Vietnam will contribute 20% of global iPad and Apple Watch output, 5% of MacBooks, and 65% of AirPods.

By locality, Bac Ninh leads with 9 Apple-related manufacturing sites, followed by Bac Giang with 5, Vinh Phuc with 4, and Phu Tho with 3.
